A native of Bay City, Michigan, where he graduated from high school . . . Moved to Houston in August 1983 to start HPD Academy Class No. 115 . . . Trained and worked at Northwest Patrol from 1983 through 1990 . . . Transferred to Accident Division, where currently assigned . . . Serving first term as HPOU Board member . . . Has brother Mark who is motorcycle officer for Harris County Precinct 5 Constable Glenn Cheek . . . Has three sisters, one in Webster, while the other two still reside in Bay City, Mich. . . . Spends most weekends on Lake Conroe with wife Veronica (a stockbroker with Paine Webber), son Adam and step-daughter Elizabeth . . . He and Veronica “spend a fair amount of time” on a Honda Goldwing motorcycle, while Adam “tags along” on Veronica’s 600-cc Honda Shadow . . . Elizabeth also an eager motorcycle enthusiast.
