Joslyn Johnson - Parliamentarian
A Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, native, she came with her family to Southeast Texas in 1989, becoming a nurse after attending Wharton County Junior College . . . Joined Cadet Class No. 159 in June 1994 . . . Met fellow cadet Rodney Johnson in the class and started dating him in August of that year . . . They married on Valentine’s Day 2000 . . . Together, the couple had five children between them . . . Joslyn spent time at Westside, Beechnut and the Fondren Night Shift before being assigned to Special Operations in 1999 . . . Stayed at Fondren until 2006 . . . Then worked in the Office of Chief of Police until February 2007, when she was promoted to sergeant . . . Spent a brief time at Fondren before going to Burglary and Theft later in 2007 . . . She’s still assigned there . . . She and HPD lost Rodney Johnson in a line of duty shooting on the Southeast side in September 2006 . . . A jury gave his killer life in prison without parole in 2008 . . . HPOU President Gary Blankinship appointed Joslyn the parliamentarian of the HPOU Board in January 2009.
