BBQ BENEFIT FOR OFFICER DAVID “D. B.” BEARDEN
Posted on Tuesday November 14, 2006

A BBQ benefit will be held for Officer David D.B. Bearden on Friday, December 8, 2006 at the Houston Police Officers' Union. The benefit will be held from 10 am to 5 pm.

D.B. passed away in a fatal car accident on Sunday, Aug. 27, when he was on his way home for one of his favorite pastimes, bowling.

D.B. is survived by Mary, his beautiful wife of 13 years, and the joys of his life, his two sons, David Bearden Jr. 10, and Marcus, 6.

D.B. had a very successful high school football career that led to a four-year scholarship to the University of Houston. D. B. was a starter on defense UH and played in the Cotton Bowl Classic.

D.B. joined the Houston Police Department on Aug. 30, 1993. He was out of Cadet Class No. 155. He spent his patrol years at the Southeast Command Station and left patrol for an assignment to the Narcotics Division, where he spent 10 years. D.B. was one of the hardest-working officers you could know. He always had a smile on his face, and everyone was his friend. He was a devoted husband and an incredible father, the ideal family man who loved his sons more than life itself.

D.B. played football with the Houston Gunners while he was an officer. He was a member of the Gunners football team that won the police national championship. He also was an avid bowler and participated regularly in the Police Olympics, medaling in individual and team competition.

All the money raised from the BBQ Benefit will be donated to his family. Please come out and support one of the finest police officers and best of friends we all knew.

Plates are $7. Chicken and Sausage dinner plates with all the fixin’s.
