Fellow members, the elections for open Board of Directors positions will begin on noon Monday, October 6, 2008. All ballot voting will be done online. As a result, any member who did not vote in the MBA/HPD Uniform Survey held earlier this year will receive, by mail, a unique username and password. These letters should be arriving in your mailboxes this week. It is very important that you do not discard this information. Please allow a few days for delivery. This will be the only mail piece you will receive regarding this election. Should you have questions or seek additional information, please direct those to elections@hpou.org for a response.
I have included an example of the letter you will receive. Please follow the instructions to complete your ballot.

Fellow HPOU Member,
Now that the initial use of the HPOU Internet Voting System (IVS) is complete, we wanted to inform you that the success and ease of the voting platform generated many favorable comments. We look forward to applying it again with the upcoming general elections for union board positions. With that in mind, we noticed that you did not vote in this past MBA/HPD Uniform Survey and want to make sure you received your initial temporary username and password information that had been sent out previously. We received some comments from some members that the postcards containing this information were either lost or never received.
Below is your specific information needed to log on and vote in the upcoming board elections, as well as any future polls or surveys.
USERNAME: (Your Payroll Number)
PASSWORD: XXXXXXXXXXXXX
As a reminder as to how to initially utilize the system, let me take a moment to review the simple steps involved.
- Go to www.hpou.org
- Click on the “Login and Vote” button at top right of page
- Change your username and password (keep safe as HPOU will not have access to this information). If you have any questions regarding this process, please feel free to contact the Election Chairman at elections@hpou.org for further assistance.
The union has taken great strides in revamping its voting system. We believe the IVS addresses member concerns regarding voting integrity and convenience. This new online format will provide unparalleled voting security and immediate polling responses. Additionally, we can now offer a platform that provides immediate feedback from members regarding important department-wide proposals and policies.
This is your Union, and I thank you for taking an active part in all voting opportunities that impact you.
Fraternally,
Gary Blankinship, President
