HPD Legal recently sent out a letter to 700 plus officers advising them that they had been overpaid and would be required to reimburse the city.
Although the amounts vary from small to large, the city is legally required to be refunded for any overages.
We are also aware that the city has made mistakes in the past. With that
thought in mind, we encourage those officers that have been notified to
contact their division timekeeper and request a detailed print out so that
you can cross-check the city’s numbers.
Prior to July 1, 2003 SOSP pay should have only had two pay components: base and longevity. As per the M&C 2003 renegotiation that was approved by the membership, from July 1, 2003 forward, the SOSP pay components now consist of base, longevity, training, and education pay.
