Sergeant J. Babb, Patrol Sergeant assigned to Westside Command, shares insight of today's meeting with HEC stakeholders.
A meeting was held this morning at the HEC which included officers, supervisors, programmers etc. The meeting appeared to be enormously productive. Once the program administrators understood what we needed, they were very receptive to our concerns. We literally diagramed an "ideal" call slip on a large presentation pad for them to see. Among the topics covered were:
1) Acceptable formats for Call slips, Unit status, and Call Status.
2) Issues relating to duplicate calls
3) Amount of "non essential" information on the slip
4) Code one alert tone
5) Delays in ORI showing up on the OLO system
7) Name of business being included on the slip
6) Key Map, district and beat information, etc.
I was impressed with how receptive they were. While some issues have already been resolved, others may take a couple of weeks. They were made aware of which concerns need priority attention (i.e. Officer Safety issues vs., convenience issues)
Thanks to Hans and others who helped to bring the meeting about.
