Two Wounded HPD Officers to Receive Special HonorsAt 7 p.m. TODAY (Wednesday, August 11), Houston Police Chief Charles A. McClelland Jr. and department officials will gather to show appreciation for 180 awards recipients being recognized for achievements and exceptional service to the citizens of Houston.
The awards ceremony will be held at the L.D. Morrison Sr. HPD Training Academy at 17000 Aldine Westfield Road.
Two special recipients, Officers Rick Salter and Frank Pierce, will be honored and receive the department's Blue Heart Award for being wounded while in the line of duty.
Numerous citizens will also be recognized and receive public service awards for their outstanding actions.
