The Texas legislature, under House Bill 1247, established the Texas Firefighter and Police Officer Home Loan Program. This program, otherwise known as "Homes for Heroes," allocates $25 million to a housing fund to provide low-interest loans with down payment and/or closing cost assistance to firefighters and police officers across the state of Texas.
In a continuing effort to make the dream of home ownership available to every Houstonian, members of the Greater Houston Builders Association and the Texas Association of Builders proudly conceived, drafted and lobbied for the passage of this bill. This law ensures our brave public servants are able to own a home in the communities they serve so well.
