HPD Officers to Interact with Shoppers, Stage Purse Theft
At 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2010 Houston police officers will interact with shoppers and join some of the largest retailers in the city for phase two of the “Safe Shopping Starts with YOU” holiday safety campaign at the H-E-B at 10100 Beechnut.
Officers will focus on how to best prevent purse thefts while shopping inside a store and stage such a theft during the news availability.
The "Safe Shopping Starts with YOU" campaign is coordinated by by HPD and retailers comprising the Greater Houston Loss Prevention Alliance (GHLPA) – H-E-B, Randalls, Fiesta Mart, Kroger, Target and Walmart. Phase one of the campaign launched on November 15 focusing on preventing burglaries of motor vehicles in shopping center parking lots.
