Proposed 2004 Meet and Confer Agreement Highlights

The Majority Bargaining Agent for all Houston police officers and the City of Houston have reached a proposed agreement that would significantly enhance officers' benefits. This proposal has been approved by the Board of Directors to present to you for ratification. Some highlights included in the package are listed below.

  • Securing additional pay increases every year until 2010
  • Protecting healthcare benefit cost
  • Offering 149 additional Phase Down positions and benefits
  • Securing current contractual benefits such as PFT days, Training Pay compression, Weekend Premium and Shift Differential Pay, COLA, etc.

Monday, September 20, 2004, at 2:00 pm at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Exhibit Hall B on the ground floor.

All HPD officers may cast their ballots via e-slate interface after the presentation at the convention center.

Meetings and voting will continue to take place around the clock at the HPOU Administration Building, 4th floor, beginning 6:00 pm and will continue until noon on Friday, September 24.

Voting tabulation will be conducted by officials of the Harris County Election Office.

* The HPOU administration office will be open around-the-clock with Board of Directors and staff available to address questions relating to all components of the proposal. It is important to the MBA that you have all available information on these enhanced benefits prior to voting.
