The Houston Police Officers’ Union Bylaws call for the 2004 election of the two Vice Presidents positions to be held in the even numbered years, as well as all even numbered board positions. The Election Committee has established the voting process and the important dates for the election. In the event of a run-off, the election will be held in accordance with the rules as established by the Election Committee. Listed below are the specific procedures for the election.

EARLY VOTING HOURS

WHEN: Thursday, October 7, 2004 at noon. Early voting will continue each business day (M-F) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Early voting will conclude on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at 5:00 p.m.

WHERE: Houston Police Officers’ Union Building A, First Floor (Breckenridge Porter building)

TIME: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

MAIL-OUT BALLOTS

Ballots will be mailed out on October 14, 2004 to all members who did not early vote. Ballots will be mailed to the members’ residence address on file with the HPOU.

VOTE TABULATION

The Election Committee will complete the final tabulation of all ballots received at the HPOU office by 12 noon on Wednesday, October 29, 2004. Ballots delivered by the US Postal Service on this date, shall also be tabulated. The Election Committee, followed by the final certification by the HPOU Board of Directors within 72 hours, will certify the election results.
