Lieutenant's and Sergeant's promotional examinations concerns explored.
Lieutenant's Promotional Examination
As you are aware there has been some controversy regarding the Lieutenants examination process. In order to ensure that the integrity of the promotional process is not jeopardized and that there is no intentional violation of the Meet & Confer Agreement the HPOU has filed a “Notice of Intent to Challenge (Grieve).”
This process will bring in an Independent Hearing Examiner to look at the facts of the case and make a decision as to whether a new promotional subcommittee should be garnered to review the appealed test questions. The arbitrator’s decision will be final and binding.
We believe that this is the only fair way to handle such a delicate situation and keep the integrity of the process intact.

Sergeant's Promotional Examination
We have received a number of phone calls from officers concerned that giving a promotional examination in the summer is too disruptive on family lives. In addition, with an academy class graduating in July it will also be very difficult for Field Training Officer to take time off for study. With these issues in mind we are asking that the testing be pushed back until October. No decision has been made by the administration at this time and we will notify you as soon as the picture becomes a little clear in regards to possible timelines.
