We are addressing a number of issues that have surfaced since the City of Houston has taken on the difficult task of providing shelter and assistance to people who have been displaced by hurricane Katrina.
ATTENTION ALL OFFICERS:
- Cancellation of the General Membership Meeting
- Sergeants Promotional Examination
- NOPD Relief Donations
Due to the recent adjustments in duty assignments that are ongoing as a result of the New Orleans evacuation, the Board of Directors of the HPOU have canceled the Tuesday, September 6, 2005 HPOU General Membership meeting. Additionally, Governor Rick Perry was unable to attend
In addition, there have been numerous questions regarding the Sergeants’ promotional examination. Although the department advised that there would be a delay with this test, the fact is there hasn’t even been an announcement. We were also advised that the Labor Relations Committee has decided upon books and as luck would have it, one of the books is not readily available. This alone will take time. We still anticipate a promotional test some time later in the year. We will keep you posted on any new developments related to the examination.
The HPOU will be available as a point of contact and assistance for New Orleans area law enforcement officers’ family members that have had to relocate here to Houston. If you happen to run across law enforcement family members that needs assistance please direct them to us here at the HPOU.
