The Houston Police Officers' Union has announced recommended and revised extra employment rate of pay.

Per the vote of the Houston Police Officers' Union Board of Directors, the recommended hourly rate of pay for Houston Police Department (HPD) officers' off-duty employment is $40 an hour with a minimum four-hour required payment. These extra jobs are typically indoors and are worked by HPD officers a regular basis. The recommended rate for temporary extra employment located outdoors is $45 per hour with the same four-hour minimum requirement. The recommended rate for permanent or temporary extra employment locations where alcohol is sold and/or consumed will be $45 per hour with the same four-hour minimum requirement.
