BENNETT

Mr. Charlie T. Bennett, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the age of 47. He is the son of Retired Senior Police Officer Charlie T. Bennett, who went on Phase Down on September 30, 2006, from the Airport Division – IAH. Services were held January 21 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

 CARDONA

Jose Santos Cardona passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017.  He is the father of Senior Police Officer Francisco Cardona, assigned to the Recruiting Division, and Police Officer Sylvia Lopez, assigned to the Northeast Division; grandfather of Senior Police Officer Ruben Trevino, assigned to Airport Division – IAH; and grandfather of Police Service Officer Alexis C. Tamayo, assigned to the Northeast Division. Services were held January 4 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

 CARR

Retired Senior Police Officer Jerry T. Carr passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Carr. He joined the Houston Police Department on August 21, 1972, Academy Class No. 56. During his career with the Houston Police Department, Senior Police Officer Carr was assigned to the Central Division, Northeast Division, Vice Division, Narcotics Division and Auto Theft Division, retiring on April 24, 2004. Services were held January 28.

CURRAN

Mr. Joel D. Curran passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the age of 66.  He is the brother of Assistant Chief Mark L. Curran of the Special Investigations Command. Services were held January 14.

 DAVIS

Retired Senior Police Officer Linda K. Davis passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at the age of 65. She joined the Houston Police Department on September 21, 1981, Academy Class No. 100. On January 17, 1983, she joined the City of Houston Marshal. She came back to work for the Department when the City Marshal merged with the Houston Police Department on November 21, 1992. During her career with the Houston Police Department, she was assigned to the Marshal Division and the Jail Division. Senior Police Officer Davis retired on March 14, 2005.  Services were held January 28 with burial in Paradise South Cemetery.

DAY

Mr. Charley Ray Day, Sr. passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at the age of 86. He is the father of Lieutenant Craig J. Day, assigned to the Narcotics Division. Services were held February 1 with burial in Canyon Lake.

EATON

Retired Sergeant John H. Eaton passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife, Linda Eaton. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He joined the Houston Police Department on November 12, 1963, Academy Class No. 29. During his career with the Houston Police Department he was assigned to the Traffic and Accident Division, Southeast Division, Major Offenders Division, and the Burglary and Theft Division. Sgt. Eaton retired on March 17, 1984. Services were held January 21 in Pasadena.

EIXMANN

Mr. Fritz John Eixmann, Jr. passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the age of 79. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Fritz John Eixman, III, assigned to the Special Investigation Command, and Senior Police Officer Shawn E. Palin, assigned to the Fleet Unit. Services were held January 25.

 GAINER

Retired Police Officer Raymond D. Gainer passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017, at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Gainer. He started his law enforcement career on August 27, 1973, with the City of Houston Park Police. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 1, 1985, when both police departments merged. During his career with the Houston Police Department, Police Officer Gainer was assigned to the Special Operations Division, retiring on January 22, 1994. Services were held January 24 with burial in Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.

GONZALEZ

Mrs. Annie Mae Gonzalez passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the age of 96. She is the mother of Retired Lieutenant Gilbert G. Gonzalez, last assigned to the Northeast Division, retiring on November 7, 2015. Services were held January 25 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

HOUSE

Senior Police Officer Karl L. House passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Vicky” House. He joined the Houston Police Department on June 15, 1981, Academy Class No. 98. During his career with the Houston Police Department, Senior Police Officer House was assigned to the Northeast Division, Central Division, and he was assigned to the South Central Division for over 31 years.  Services were held January 30 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

JENKINS

Retired Sergeant James A. Jenkins passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at the age of 76. He joined the Houston Police Department on November 6, 1961, Academy Class No. 25. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on July 8, 1972. Sergeant Jenkins was assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Division upon his retirement on June 8, 1982. He is the father of Retired Senior Police Officer James A. Jenkins, Jr, last assigned to the Training Division, and Sergeant Matthew J. Jenkins of the Burglary and Theft Division.

JONES

Mr. Bobby Ray Jones passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017, at the age of 76. He is the brother of Senior Police Officer Myron T. Brady, assigned to the Mayor’s Detail; he is also the cousin of Senior Police Officer Eric E. Brown, assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division. Services were held February 1 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

KEBEDE

Mrs. Betty Kebede passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the age of 54. She is the sister of Retired Payroll Clerk Mary (Broussard) Williams, last assigned to the Southeast Division, retiring on August 15, 2015. Services were held February 4 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

KMIEC

Retired Senior Police Officer James E. Kmiec passed away on Wednesday, January 04, 2017, at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife, Jefferie G. Kmiec. He joined the Houston Police Department on June 22, 1970, Academy Class No. 45. During his career with the Houston Police Department he was assigned to the Central Division, Emergency Communication Division, and Northeast Division. Senior Police Officer Kmiec retired on January 22, 2011.

Services were held January 7 with burial in Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.

LABRADOR

Mrs. Brenda Labrador passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the age of 68. She is the mother-in-law of Criminal Intelligence Analyst Michael W. “MJ” Jackson, assigned to the Crime Analysis and Command Center.

LAMEYER

Glen Michael Lameyer passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017, at the age of 64. He is the father of Sergeant Shayne C. Lameyer, assigned to the Midwest Division.

 LANGLEY

Mrs. Mirtie Lea “Helen” Langley passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017, at the age of 90. She is the grandmother of Senior Police Officer Christopher M. Cayton, assigned to the Narcotics Division. Services were held January 13 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

 LEBLANC

Retired Identification Officer Norbert L. Leblanc passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2017, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla M. LeBlanc. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 10, 1966. On September 12, 1977, he was a member of Academy Class No. BC-1. He was assigned to the Identification Division throughout his whole career, retiring on July 31, 1992. Services were held January 6 with entombment at Brookside Memorial Park.

 LIGHTNER

Mr. Donald Ray Lightener, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the age of 76. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Donald R. Lightener, Jr., assigned to the Downtown Division. Services were held January 7 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

 MADDEN

Mr. Richard Brent Madden passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at the age of 50. He is the brother of Sergeant Traci E. Seals, assigned to the South Central Division. Services were held January 12 in Shreveport.

 MADDOX

Mrs. Betty M. Maddox, 80, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017. She is preceded in death by her husband, retired Sergeant James W. Maddox, last assigned to the Major Offenders Division, mother of Sergeant Bradley W. Maddox, assigned to the Clear Lake Division, and sister-in-law of retired Sergeant Douglas A. Maddox, last assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division. Services were held January 20 with burial in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

MATTHEWS

Retired Sergeant Glen Matthews passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017, at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife, Retired Police Officer Paula C. Matthews. He joined the Houston Police Department on June 5, 1978, Academy Class No. 82. During his career with the Houston Police Department he was assigned to the Northeast Division, the Traffic and Accident Division, Juvenile Division, Homicide Division, Southeast Division, and South Gessner Division. Sgt. Matthews retired on September 14, 2002.

MONTGOMERY

Retired Lieutenant Kenneth B. Montgomery passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Doris J. Montgomery. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 8, 1958, Academy Class No. 19. Lieutenant Montgomery retired on November 6, 1986, out of the Jail Division. He is the father of Retired Captain Robert A. Montgomery, whom retired on March 29, 2014. Services were held February 4 with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

MORENO

Mrs. Julia Rivera Moreno passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017, at the age of 95. She is the grandmother of Sergeant Joel E. Rodriguez, assigned to the Air Support Division. Services were held January 26 with burial in Hochheim, Texas.

 NEAL

Retired Detective George R. Neal passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice J. Neal. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 4, 1962, Academy Class No. 26. Detective Neal retired on August 5, 1983, while assigned to the Auto Theft Division. Services were held January 27 with burial in Mount Olive Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson.

PASSEWE

Mr. Stephen J. Passewe passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016, at the age of 69. He is the father of Police Officer Prince Jaiah Passewe, assigned to the South Gessner Patrol Division. Services were held December 30 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Doris Jean Riley passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the age of 79. She is the grandmother of Senior Evidence Technician Kimberly R. Riley, assigned to the Property Division. Services were held February 9 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

Retired Senior Police Officer Robert W. Robinson passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at the age of 61. He is survived by his wife, Tamberly Robinson. He joined the Houston Police Department on March 29, 1976, Academy Class No. 74. During his career with the Houston Police Department, he was assigned to the Central Division, Emergency Communications Division, Tactical Operations Division, South Central Division, Crime Analysis Division, and the Office of Budget and Finance, retiring on June 25, 2011.

 

ROWLEY

Mr. Richard “Bill” Rowley passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the age of 66. He is the brother of Senior Police Officer William D. Rowley, assigned to the Airport Division – IAH. Services were held January 19 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

 RUDOLPH

Retired Sergeant Charles H. Rudolph passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Lynn Rudolph. He joined the Houston Police Department on August 28, 1967, Academy Class No. 36. During his career with the Houston Police Department, Sergeant Rudolph was assigned to the Southeast Division, Burglary and Theft Division, and Major Offenders Division, retiring on March 29, 1991. Services were held January 31 in New Caney.

STOKES

Retired Police Officer Floyd Stokes Brewton passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife, Marvice C. Brewton. He joined the Houston Police Department on December 6, 1961, Academy Class No. 25. Police Officer Brewton retired on March 5, 1982. Services were held January 23 in Crockett.

VALENTINE

Mr. James E. Valentine passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at the age of 74. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Dalion D. Valentine, assigned to the Juvenile Division.  Services were held January 21 in Dallas.

 YOUNG

Mrs. Evelyn W. Young, 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Clarance W. Creswell, assigned to the Southeast Division; mother in law of Senior Police Officer Michelle R. Creswell, assigned to the Southeast Division, and aunt of Senior Police Officer Leon C. Johnson, assigned to the Southwest Division. Services were held January 14 with burial in Pattison, Texas.

 ZEPEDA

Mrs. Maria P. Zepeda passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at the age of 92. She is the mother of Retired Senior Police Officer Teresa P. Zepeda, last assigned to the Office of the Chief of Police, retiring on May 24, 2014.

Services were held January 18 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
